Tosco was initially created to support Toyota's participation in motorsports, such as the grueling Round Australia Rally, where it showcased durability and innovation. Over time, Tosco evolved into Toyota Racing Development (TRD) in 1976, focusing on both competitive racing and performance enhancements for road cars. TRD became renowned for engineering advanced components like suspension systems, superchargers, and exhaust upgrades, blending racing expertise with consumer vehicles.

By the late 20th century, TRD expanded globally, with TRD USA playing a pivotal role in North America’s racing scene and offering performance packages for popular models like the Tacoma, Tundra, and Supra. TRD's influence extended beyond motorsports, as it introduced tuning options for off-road enthusiasts and street performance fans alike. Today, TRD continues to innovate by integrating cutting-edge technology into its vehicles while maintaining its roots in motorsport engineering excellence.

COBB Tuning entered the Toyota tuning market in early 2024 with the introduction of the COBB Flash Kit and Calibrations for the 2022+ Subaru BRZ and Toyota GR86. This flash kit utilizes the well-known EcuTek dongle and software, offering access to COBB's exclusive custom features such as traction control, engine safety measures, and valet mode. It allows users to seamlessly switch between map slots via a mobile app or the cruise control stalk, enhancing drivability and performance for both stock and lightly modified vehicles. Toyota set up their newest trucks with the rugged legacy of the nameplate, introducing fresh powertrain architecture and advanced engine management systems in the latest generation. Our decades of experience on Subaru, Ford, Porsche, and many other platforms provided a valuable foundation over the last 25-plus years, and we’re excited to bring that experience forward with Toyota, starting with the brand new turbocharged 2.4L i-FORCE and i-FORCE MAX powered Tacoma & 4Runner.
